RESEARCH SERVICES

If you are unable to visit the library the Research Department will undertake research within the Society's library for a fee.

General Research Service

Members $25.00 per hour, includes postage and some accompanying copies. 

Non-members $40.00 per hour, includes postage and some accompanying copies.

As a benefit of membership members who live more than 100km from the Society can receive free research on one specific request per calendar year for up to two hours work using our library resources. Photocopying and postage will be charged.

Other Research services

Special consultations: for one hour may be made with a Research consultant.

Members $20.00, non-members $36.00.

Transcription and Translation of documents: 17th and 18th century documents (eg wills and marriage licences) can be transcribed for you.  Latin translations are also available.

Members $25.00 per hour, non-members $40.00 per hour.

Look-up Service: The definition of a research look-up is: (1) Look up an index in the library where all the pertinent facts are provided; (2) Look up a record in the library where the full index details are provided. The actual look up time will be 15 minutes or less. Price includes up to four prints and postage.

Members $10.00, non-members $18.00.

eg Passenger 'look-up': prints from a passenger list when the index reference is provided.

eg Convict >'look-up': The Index to New South Wales Convicts 1788-1842 and the Ships That Transported Them is available.If you provide the reference from the index we will provide up to four prints showing the convict indent.  

Probate: wills and probate papers 1841-1991

Inquest: inquest papers 1840-1985

We will obtain these papers from the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV).

Members $16.50, non-members $33.00. Photocopying and postage is extra.
