Next Meeting

Guest Speaker-Professor Stuart Macintyre. “More Scotch Abroad Than At Home”

His talk will draw on the essay he contributed to the 2014 exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat, ‘For Auld Lang Syne’ to explore Scottish attachments in colonial Australia.

Stuart Macintyre is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Melbourne. His interest in Scottish History goes back to research he conducted in Scotland in the 1970’s.

In 2014 he attended the Scottish Diaspora Conference organised by Professor Tom Devine in Edinburgh.

Next meeting: Saturday 28th November at 1. p.m. in the GSV Meeting Room

The Scottish Ancestry Group was founded in March 1990 by a group of GSV members with a common interest in their Scottish heritage. In May 1991, the group was formally adopted as a Service Group of The Genealogical Society of Victoria Inc.

Four meetings are held each year. These are on the third Saturday of March, June & September, and the fourth Saturday in November.

All GSV members and all Thistle subscribers are welcome at the four meetings.
Visitors, i.e. non GSV members, are also welcome.
