FamilySearch's Microfilm Ordering service is your gateway to a vast collection of genealogical and historical records. The service allows you to reserve and read films at family history centers and affiliates in Australia. The loan is free, but there is a small shipping and handling charge for each film ($A 7.75). Films are ordered online using your credit card and you nominate the centre (e.g. GSV) at which you will view the film. When the films arrive you will be notified by email.
Ordering is simple:
There are two types of loans: Short-term loans apply to microfilms only, and the films must be returned within 60 days. A renewal option is available after your short-term loan expires.
When you are ready to submit your loan order, click the shopping cart in the upper right portion of the screen. You will then have a chance to review and confirm your order.
After you submit your order, all films will be delivered to your designated family history center.

For those without email, it is quick and easy to set up a Gmail account through Google which can be accessed from your local library, the GSV, your neighbour or your grandkids.
For those without a credit card, small denomination debit cards can be purchased from Post Office shops.
If these options are not available to you, we can order on your behalf but there will be an additional $5.50 handling fee.
Films may be ordered at the GSV Library or through our secure online shop.
