This talk will discuss the 1836 Tithe Commutation Act which required tithes in kind to be converted to monetary payments. The implementation of the Act required that all land was surveyed and valued. The resultant records and maps are a valuable resource to assist help learn about the places that your ancestors lived and worked.
David Down has spent many years using these records to research his family lines in the UK in the first half of the 19th century.
