British India Discussion Circle
The British India Discussion Circle is for GSV members researching their family history in India between 1599 and Independence in 1947.
At the next meeting, one of our members is going to tell us about his research in uncovering the story of his missionary forebears in Southern India. Then Janine is going to share with us the story, often neglected, of what life in India was like for the women who were “the wives of the Raj” – raising children, overseeing the kitchen and their social life. Do join us! And there will be time to share issues, triumphs and brickwalls in our research: picking the brains of the group! Don’t forget to register for this zoom session, 730 – 9.00 pm on Tuesday, 16th April.
For GSV members only. Free of charge.
Aim: To understand and gain further knowledge of our ancestors' connections to, and lives in, British India, including those who worked within the Home Establishment.
Meetings will discuss the records available at the GSV and other organisations in Australia, websites with relevant sources including The British Library, FamilySearch, Findmypast, FIBIS and TNA.
