British India Discussion Circle
In March we will meet Valerie Britton-Wilson author of ‘A touch of India: Chutney Mary, Charming Irregularities and an Unlikely Romance’. Valerie was fortunate to have been given a suitcase containing her mother’s personal possessions including documents, letters & family photos.
Valerie has written of her mother, Pearl’s, life in Bombay as a young girl and her determination to follow a career path of her own choosing. This eventually led to her meeting her future husband, an Englishman, and their life in post war England before they eventually moved to Australia.
Valerie has had many visits to India to follow up her mother’s story. In fact, she is there now but will be back in time to talk to us about India and her family history.
