Writing Family Stories 2026

This short course is offered over 8 weeks through 4 90-minute sessions held online. 

During the course you will:

  • begin, write and revise an original 500-word piece for a particular audience
  • learn from experienced writers of family stories
  • practice techniques to engage readers
  • receive feedback from mentors and writer participants
  • provide feedback to other writer participants.

The course will be led by Professor Peter Sherlock and Dr Elizabeth Hartnell-Young with the support of mentors experienced in writing and in researching family histories.

Session 2  Tell Your Story        Tuesday 12 May 2026 2:30 to 4:00 pm AEST
Session 3  Revise and Polish    Tuesday 26 May 2026 2:30 to 4:00 pm AEST
Session 4  Share Your Story    Tuesday 9 June 2026 2:30 to 4:00 pm AEST

Course fees: $200 GSV members, $300 non-members. Maximum 16 participants.
