Dr Geraldine Moore speaks on "The politics of the Victorian Education Act of 1872”, and the impacts of the withdrawal of public funding for Church schools. Five of Geraldine’s great-grandparents were either Irish born or of descent. Her talk includes the different decisions her Irish ancestors made regarding their children's education after the Act was passed.

By the 19 th century Scotland had higher literacy rates than England and Wales. Margaret discusses the rise of literacy and records kept at the National Library of Scotland.

Public Record Office of Victoria holds a large number of records sets that relate to the Education system in Victoria. In this talk Cheryl Griffin talks about those resources and how they can be used to research teachers and schools.
