Victorian Seniors Festival 2026

Welcome to the Genealogical Society of Victoria. We are pleased to offer the following events to the General Public during the Victorian Seniors Festival.

All the events will be conducted online via Zoom. Please select the event, or events, that you would like to attend and click on the link to book your place. You will receive an email which will contain the Zoom invitation link.

Tuesday 13 October at 1:30 pm – Introduction to the GSV and its Resources. Free access. Register
In this session will examine who we are, how we help each other with our research, what resources we hold and how best to access those resources from home and at the Research & Education Centre.

Friday 16 October at 1:30 pm – Researching your Scottish Ancestry back from Australia to Scotland. Register
$10 charge for the General Public. 
This talk outlines the processes and resources for tracing your family from Australia back to your ancestors in Scotland.

Tuesday 20 October at 10:30 am – British India Discussion Circle. Free access. 
We will explore the lives of ancestors who worked on the railways in India during the 18 th and 19 th centuries. Register

Wednesday 21 October at 12:30 pm – ScotlandsPeople website.  Register
$10 charge for the General
Public. The ScotlandsPeople website is the official Scottish Government site for searching government records and archives. This talk will explore what’s on the website, how to register as a user, buy credits, obtain certificates, as well as advice on researching the site.

Thursday 29 October at 1:00 pm – Oral History Seminar (3 hours). Register
$5 charge for the General Public.
